What's on?
York RLFC Foundation are offering six sessions during the York ‘Give it a Go Week’ for you to choose from!
The programme of events is to encourage new participants to try some of our most popular programmes for you to enjoy.
At each session, we can discuss and signpost individuals to the appropriate activity for them to enjoy on a more regular basis.
Session One
What: Touch Rugby League Taster Session
About: This toned-down version of conventional rugby league is an exciting sport that appeals to the masses and can be played regardless of experience! All played in a fast, fun and relaxed environment. Touch Rugby League is a minimal-contact version of Rugby League. The game is easy to learn and easy to play, with new participants welcomed. Sessions offer a practical way to stay fit and also boost bone and muscle strength and body coordination, all in a fun, social atmosphere, providing a great way to make new friends.
Who: Aged 16 years +
Session Two
What: Learning Disability Rugby League Taster Session
About: An adapted version of the traditional game in a non-competitive environment using tag rugby rules for individuals with additional learning needs.
Session Three
What: Wheelchair Rugby League Taster session
About: The sport offers both disabled & non-disabled players the opportunity to compete both with & against each other. As such, Wheelchair Rugby League is one of the most inclusive and accessible variants of rugby league, catering for a wide range of abilities. No previous experience necessary. Pre-booking is essential.
Who: Aged 16 years +
Session Four
What: Outreach Multi-Sports Activity session
About: York RLFC Foundation are running free turn-up & play holiday activity sessions. Aimed at encouraging children to join a local community club by playing fun games and practising key skills. No previous playing experience necessary!
Who: Suitable for children aged 5-12 years
Session Five
What: Outreach Multi-Sports Activity session
About: York RLFC Foundation are running free turn-up & play holiday activity sessions. Aimed at encouraging children to join a local community club by playing fun games and practising key skills. No previous playing experience necessary!

What: RugBees – Girls Rugby League Sessions
About Rugby league skills & fun for primary school-aged girls this October half term.No previous playing experience necessary!

Where: Fulford Parish Council Playing Field, School Lane, YO10 4LY.

Wednesday 29th October
Session Five
What: Outreach Multi-Sports Activity session
Who: Suitable for children aged 5-12 years
When: Wednesday 29th October, 1:30-3:30pm.
Where: Acomb Green, Acomb, York, YO26 5LL

Thursday 30th October
Session Six
What: RugBees – Girls Rugby League Sessions
Where: York St John University Sports Park, YO31 8TA
When: Thursday 30th October, 11.00-1.30 pm
Who: Girls aged 7-11 years
Cost: £6

The York RLFC Foundation is the community partner of York RLFC and works to deliver a range of community initiatives to schools and communities throughout York and North Yorkshire.
Creating and developing sustainable links within the community is something really important to us. This supports the local community and grassroots sport at all levels.
Each session will have signposting for participants to other relevant activities.
The sport of Rugby League offers numerous benefits, improving physical fitness, meeting new people, developing teamwork skills, and potentially advancing to a higher level in the sport.
